What eclecticc is

Hello all (though I’m being a bit optimistic with the word all),

I’m Nirav Patel, a rabble rouser, robot herder, meatsmith, moonshiner, psuedocryptozoologist, and all around eclecticc individual.  I’m also a Junior in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.  This web log, or blog as it may be known, is documentation of the ideas I have and projects I undertake to provide warning to others of what not to do with their lives.

The following is a list of things I’ve done that may or may not end up documented on this site, depending on how bored or lazy I am:

  • Pac-Man shaped arcade machine
  • Snowmaking
  • Microdistilling
  • Grado mods
  • Headphone amps
  • POV (Persistance of Vision) devices
  • Baking/cooking (meatcake, etc)
  • Bonfires
  • Various small things and less interesting projects undertaken for classes

There are far more things that I plan on eventually doing.  Most of them are completely stupid and/or unrealistic, but there are a few gems:

  • CPS (Continuous Pizza System)
  • Low cost EKG for OLPC
  • Vision processing for OLPC
  • Stop motion photography for OLPC
  • Multimeter glove
  • Sugar rockets
  • Portable Dobsonian telescope
  • Crocheted Amigurumi
  • Flavored snowmaking
  • Steam powered robot
  • Wireless POV display
  • FM transmitter/amplifier
  • Candy fab
  • CNC
  • Robotic Zeppelin
  • Mobot

Some other topics that may come up time and again include:

  • SpongeBob
  • Open Source Software
  • Linux
  • Banjo
  • Crocheting
  • Robotics
  • Pyrotechnics
  • Classic movies
  • Politics
  • Love
  • Backpacking
